Shabby Chic Christmas Ornament At the Seaside!

Ingredients:
Wooden Wheel and Anchor Ornaments
Found Clam Shell
Bakers Twine - blue
Tim Holtz Christmas Sentiment
White Tim Holtz Distress Crayon
Spa Blue Paint
White Paint
Elmers Glue
Prima Wax in Royal Robes
Dew Drops - Mini pink and Clear diamonds

Directions:

1.  Prepare the Charm by coloring over the writing with the white distress crayon and wiping the surface to make the sentiment stand out.
2.  Prepare the wooden ornaments by painting the base blue color.  And let dry.

3.  To form the "crackle on the anchor, coat the dry anchor with a light layer of Elmers glue.  Let dry to tacky to touch and then lightly paint over the not yet dried glue with white paint.  As the glue dries and the paint dries, crackles will form.

4.  Rub the wooden wheel and anchor with Art Alchmy Opal Magic Royal Robes wax (smells fabulous)!

5.  Glue the anchor and the wheel together.  Embellish the anchor and the shell with Dew Drops.  I used liquid adhesive and pink mini dew drops and clear diamond dew drops.

6.  Finally adhere the sentiment to the decoration and add the twine bow.  When everything is dry loop twine through the top hole of the anchor for an ornament or add to a wreath or package.  It is a super cute shabby accent!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the festive season with Dew Drops!

See you next time!

Merry Christmas with Dew Drops

It's Christmas in October!!!  I made this candy dish, which doesn't have candy yet, for this weekend's project. Isn't it fun.  I love the red trucks and the Dew Drops really set things off!

Ingredient List:

Candy Jar - I used a square Jar that has a "locking" mechanism  (cost $1.00)
Artificial Snow  (Cost $0.25)
Artificial Tree    (Cost $0.50)
Fabric Flowers (Jolee's)  (Cost $1.00)
Dew Drops Red and Light Ale  - from my stash
Stickles - Christmas Red and Holly Green - from my stash
Tacky Glue - from my stash
Dimensional Tape - from my stash
Truck Ribbon  (Cost $1.00)

Directions:

1.  Step one decorate the green fabric flowers with Red Dew Drops.  Use tacky glue to adhere and set aside until dry.

2.  Add a generous dollop of tacky glue to the top of the jar.  Adhere the tree.  Let dry for at least 24 hours so it is secure.

4.  Decorate the truck (I got these ornaments at the Dollar Tree) I added more glitter glue over the top of the wheel wells in Christmas Red.  I also adhered a round light Ale dew drop to the center of each tire as a hub cap.  It was adhered with the green and red mixed Holly Stickles.  Let these hubcaps dry over night.

 5.  Add the flowers and to the jar using dimensional tape.  Add the dry trucks with dimensional tape or hang from the ribbon around the neck of the jar.

6.  Add snow to the jar.  When were closer to Christmas I will add a layer of clear plastic to hold the snow in place and then add candy!

Hope you enjoyed this little Christmas Candy Dish project.  It could easily be adapted for wedding centerpieces for a rustic wedding.  Enjoy!

Halloween Gift Bags - Cute and Spooky!

It's almost time to prepare for those goblins coming to your house and classroom parties (to say nothing of work parties)!  I want to show you a simple bag to put your treats in that everyone will love!

Ingredients:

Directions:

Layer the pumpkins on top of each other.  Mine had sticky dimensional tape on the back, but I still use glue.  Otherwise they don't hold well enough to stay put through events and use.
Arrange pumpkins on the bag.
Add Ghost Little Friend
Embellish with Orange and Brown Mini Dew Drops, and you're ready to stuff with treats.

Hope you'll play along and have some fun for the upcoming holiday!

I am loving how my frame for the photo of Pearl came out!  I started with a Dollar Tree Frame and added embellishments.   It is super simple and if you'd like complete directions, pop on over to the Chattering Robins Blog and check it out.

Hope you're all enjoying the last few weeks of summer and getting outside with your canine friends!

Have a wonderful week!

Dollar Tree Upcycle Horse

Happy Saturday! I am big on repurposing, reusing and recycling.  How about you? Or do you ever see a cute item that just doesn't fit your home decorations?  Today's project will show you how to "upcycle" a ceramic figurine from the Dollar Store!

Recipe for a Fantasy Horse

Ingredients:
  • Ceramic Horse
  • Spray gilding paint
  • Paper
  • Washi Tape
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Fingernail polish
  • Dimensional Adhesive
  • Wet Adhesive
  • Dew Drops - gold, pink and clear
Directions:

1.  Take your ceramic piece outside.  Spray with three coats of gilding paint.  I used Krylon brand.  Before you start be sure to protect the surface you are spraying on by using a spray box or spreading newspaper.  Let dry between each coat, so you can see any areas you may have missed.  By the way, I started with a flat white horse, if it has a shiny finish you may need to lightly sand your ceramic for the best results.

2.  While your painted ceramic is drying, Attach washi tape to paper, alternatively you could simply use a piece of patterned paper.  Cut paper to  4 inches by 2 inches.  Cut 1/4 inch out beginning at 1 1/2 from each edge.  This will form the saddle

3,  Decorate the saddle with Dew Drops.  I used pink and gold, which you will find here.
I used Aleen's Tacky Glue to adhere the Dew Drops.

4.  Place the saddle on the now dry horse.  I used dimensional tape to adhere it.  One piece below the saddle and one on each side. I then painted the top portion of the saddle with hot pink fingernail polish.

5,  Adhere other embellishments, as desired to fit your vision.  I used three mini fabric flowers and bows made from embroidery floss.

Hope you enjoy this project and give it a try yourself!

Acrylic Necklace Focal Point

Happy Saturday!  Victoria back again with a simple and beautiful jewelry making project using Dew Drops.

Necklace Recipe:

Acrylic Pouring Medium
Jewelry Mold
Dew Drops
Chain - I used 18 inches of copper colored chain
Two shell charms
5 large jump rings - I used 5 copper colored jump rings
Clasp of your choice - I used a copper colored bar and circle clasp

Necklace Directions:
  • For this project it is super important to assemble all of your project supplies and have them within reach.  Also use a surface that if you spill on can be disposed of.  I get inexpensive plastic cutting boards at the Dollar Tree (you get two for $1.00)
  •  You'll need equal amounts of resin and hardener, measured into two disposable cups.  Pour together and mix with a disposable wooden stick.  Mix for several minutes as directed by your resin brand.  Once mixed you have about 45 minutes working time.
  • Pour resin into molds and embellish with Dew Drops.
  •  Apply heat from a heat gun or torch to remove bubbles in the resin.  You may need to poke additional bubbles with a pin to get them all out of your jewelry piece.
  •  Make sure the molds are on a flat surface, cover lightly with foil to prevent dust from settling on your focal points.  Let dry for 24 hours.
  • Pop resin pieces out of the mold and assemble your jewelry!
Hope you have fun trying this project!
