Sugar Skull Card

Did you know that there are several sugar skull stamps both digital and unmounted available in the Queen Kat Designs store?  This card was created using the Day of the Dead Girl digital stamp.  I love the was this stamp colors up.  I used Sakura gel pens which gave a really neat "slick" look to this image.  Don't you love the head band, the skulls in her hair and the bird in her hair??  This is a larger card 5 inches by 7 inches made on dark blue card stock.  The image was printed on heavy watercolor paper and colored.  I inked the edges with Prima Dark Bark chalk ink and added the "Hi" sentiment which I outlined with a gel pen.  This card could easily turn in to a framed piece of art by the recipient.  What a great way to just brighten someone's day.  If you love the look of skulls and especially the hispanic sugar skulls, be sure to check out the variety of stamps available in the store!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Visit to Canal Avenue AND I am on the Queen Kat Design Team!!!

I am super excited about my new design team post!  I was selected to join the team at Queen Kat!  If you click on the logo link on the side bar, you can see all their fun stamps!

I want to show you a quick to make card using Vikki's digital stamp Canal Avenue, from Queen Kat Designs.  I love the funky little buildings and all the details!

I don't know which of the many Canal Avenue's she had in mind but it reminds me a little of New Orleans.  I colored the stamp using three different products:  Faber-Castell Metallic Colored Eco-Pencils, Crayola (yes, Crayola - I am frugal too) Colored Pencils, and Sakura Glaze Collection pens.

I printed the design at a 4 to a page size on 8 1/2 x 11 card stock, colored the image and then mounted it on dimensional tape on the patterned paper, which is from My Mind's Eye.  For a little fun I stapled the striped strip to the card.  I don't even have a special crafting stapler, I use a standard office swing line stapler!

This stamp is super fun and really reasonably priced!  You can't go wrong!

Have a wonderful week!

365 Cards Sketch 153 and Day 154 Challenge Combo

The top card was for Sketch Sunday Day 153. I just love Wendi's sketches! This card uses all Melissa Frances papers, a stamp from Crafty Secrets, and a little ribbon rose. I love how the soft colors mix on this card sketch.

The second challenge we were to, look back at the sketches and other challenges from February, March and April. Select one sketch and one other challenge to create your very own challenge combo. I chose Day 82 Nautical Inspiration and Day 72 Sketch to make this graduation card for a guy in my office who just completed his RN training. Hope he likes it!

Shining (Day 149 at 365 Cards) and Relaxed (Day 150 at 365 Cards) Cards! Plus Two (Day 151 and Day 152)

I have two new cards to show off today.  The first is themed around the word "shining" and the second around the idea "relaxed".  Hope you like them both!

I also completed the Color Challenge (Day 151) and the soft baby card challenge (Day 152).  The color challenge would make a great welcome home from the service card.  It is a reproduction of a WWII print.

Have a wonderful June and enjoy the end of the school year, dads and grads!
